Furniture Limoges Boxes
Furniture Limoges boxes shrink the well furnished room down to the size of a palm. Armchairs in green, yellow and blue, a black antique French sofa, a fainting couch, loveseats, footstools and an armoire are each shaped in Hand-Painted porcelain from Limoges, France, with the seat or drawer front often doubling as the hinged lid. It is a dollhouse with better taste. Many pieces come with a tenant. Cats nap on red chairs, lounge across a yellow couch and curl on pillows, a leopard stretches out on a black couch, and teddy bears settle into armchairs, rocking chairs and beds.
A frog reads in his chair, a rabbit stands by a dresser, and a green armchair holds a folded newspaper for whoever has finally earned the afternoon off. The room fills out with table lamps in black and burgundy, a reading lamp with book and glasses, a trunk topped with a lamp and French books, a brown china cabinet and a Rochard vitrine, which is a cabinet built to sit inside your own cabinet. A table for two with yellow roses and champagne suits an anniversary. Give the armchair with the newspaper to the man who claims that chair at home, and group the pieces by room so the shelf reads like a floor plan.
