Barnyard and Country Limoges Boxes
Barnyard Limoges boxes bring the farm and the ranch to one shelf. Pigs lead the herd, joined by sheep and lambs, a rooster and hen, a duck family, horses and a lazy longhorn bull with his branding iron. The pig pen is the liveliest corner. One lounges on straw, one sits in a barrel, another cooks with a menu in hand, and a mother keeps three piglets in line. Some have stepped out of the barnyard entirely, popping champagne, sitting under a beach umbrella or flying, because sometimes pigs really do.
A red wild boar keeps things honest. Ranch hands will look for the western cowboy boot, a cowboy hat, and a standing buffalo whose hat lifts off. Horse people have a jockey clearing a jump, a polo player at full gallop, three horses together and a horse leaning on the fence beside its barn. Each is porcelain, shaped and painted by hand in Limoges, France, with a hinged lid and a small metal clasp, and many of these boxes tuck a small surprise inside. Set a bull on the desk at the ranch office, a rooster by the kitchen window, or a horse barn on the tack room shelf for the rider who has everything else.
