Mother's Day Limoges Porcelain Boxes
Mother's Day Limoges boxes in this group mostly tell one story, a mother keeping her young close. Elephants walk with calves, a mother giraffe bends to her baby, a polar bear shields her cub, and a dolphin swims beside her calf. The list reaches well past the farm. There are koalas and pandas, a rhino and a hippo in the water, a whale with her calf, a black panther, penguins and zebras in the jungle. A mother pig manages three piglets with visible patience, and cats are well represented too, from a Siamese seated with her kitten to a mother cat nursing her litter.
To a Wonderful Mother, a Mother Love Always heart and a pink rose box give the card a porcelain twin. Grandmothers get their own keepsakes, and a mother pushing a baby carriage remembers the early years. Each was Hand-Painted by a careful brush in Limoges, France, and closes with a hinged lid and clasp. Pick the animal she loves best, or the one that matches how she ran the house. It is a quiet way to say thank you to the woman who did the same for you.
