Forest and Woodland Limoges Boxes
Forest and woodland Limoges boxes gather the creatures of the deep trees and a few from much deeper time. Owls perch on logs, stumps and books, red foxes and brown deer step out of the brush, and squirrels clutch their acorns, each rendered in Hand-Painted porcelain from Limoges, France. Hinged lids and small clasps keep them closed until someone curious comes along.
Rochard supplies much of this trail, including a little hedgehog, a raccoon with her baby, a moose, two owls side by side and an owl egg with a removable owl inside. The acorn appears on its own as a box and as a figurine, and a fox hunter piece brings the old sporting print to porcelain. For the holidays, deer stand in the snow and a pair of Christmas owls share a branch with a snow mouse. The woods here run a little wild. A green Rochard dragon, a crocodile with a small fish, a basking lizard and a lizard resting on a log share the shelf with a Stegosaurus, a Brachiosaurus, a Parasaurolophus and a Kentrosaurus. Give an owl to the reader in the family, a fox to the man who rides with the hunt, and a dinosaur to the grandson who can pronounce all four. Set them among books and plants and the cabinet starts to look like a cabin.
