Rochard Owl Egg Limoges Box with Removable Owl

An egg sits ready to hatch, and the owl that belongs to it perches close by, small enough to lift away. This two-part hand-painted porcelain Limoges box was made by Rochard in Limoges, France.

Wise Watch Over the Nest

Owls have been linked with wisdom since ancient Athens, and their quiet night patrols have earned them the nickname of nature's night watchman. Pairing the bird with an egg turns the piece into a little story of a parent guarding the nest until morning.

Two Ways to Set the Scene

• A Rochard owl piece, painted by hand in Limoges, France
• The removable owl can rest with the egg or stand beside it
• Belongs in an owl, bird or woodland wildlife collection

A Perch in the Study

Give it a spot on a library shelf, a teacher's desk or a reading nook where a wise old owl seems right at home. It suits a graduation, a retirement from teaching, a birder's birthday, or anyone whose owl collection keeps quietly growing. It also makes a thoughtful nod to a new parent watching over a nest of their own.
