The Gentleman's Desk Limoges Boxes
The Gentleman's Desk gathers Limoges boxes shaped like the tools of a well kept study. Fountain pens in black, green, blue and a swirl of hot pink lie beside pocket watches, a brown briefcase and a magnifying glass, each one Hand-Painted porcelain from Limoges with a hinged lid and a neat brass clasp. Think of it as a desk set that never needs ink.
The old office machines are the stars here. Typewriters come in periwinkle blue, black and green, one of them tapping out a Christmas letter, and the telephones arrive in brown, gray and a red Rochard model carrying a love message. World globes spin on stands, sail with a tall ship, rest on the backs of lions or open into a little globe bar with wine glasses. A wind up alarm clock, safari binoculars and a Swiss Army knife with a brass corkscrew round out the drawer. For the evenings there is a tuxedo shirt and a champagne bottle dressed in its own tux. Give a fountain pen to a new partner at the firm, a pocket watch to a father who is never late, or the Shakespeare book stack with inkwell to the reader who still writes letters by hand. Set them on the blotter, the credenza or the shelf above the monitor, where a visitor will pick one up and ask about it.
