Rabbits and Mice Limoges Boxes
Rabbits and mice Limoges boxes cover the quick little creatures of the garden and the pantry, and they seldom sit still. Bunnies tend carrots, water the garden and pose with Easter eggs, while the mice raid the cheese board and ride a carnival wheel. Easter brings out the rabbits in force. A Rochard bunny paints his own eggs, others ride in yellow and white baskets trimmed with wisteria, and a brown Easter rabbit comes with a removable egg. Off season, a rabbit rests on the grass, carries a backpack, rocks a baby in a rocking chair or holds a carrot beside a glass of milk.
The mice are the comedians of the group. One sleeps on a wedge of cheese, another hides inside it, and a crew climbs a cheeseburger built with three hinged lids. A wind up toy mouse, a mouse sizing up a trap and a falcon eyeing its dinner add a little tension, while serenading mice on a heart and two artists at the easel soften things up. Each is porcelain from Limoges, France, painted by hand, with a hinged lid and often a small charm waiting inside. Tuck one on the kitchen windowsill or the desk, where a mouse belongs.
