Limoges Bird Boxes
Bird Limoges boxes gather a whole aviary onto one shelf, from a great owl on a blue base to a pelican whose fish lifts right off. Toucans, a blue macaw, a parrot in a crystal cage and tuxedo penguins bring the tropics and the ice floe together, and a red cardinal perches on a Christmas bell. Each is porcelain from Limoges, France, painted by hand and fitted with a hinged lid. The wilder birds have plenty of character. Owls keep watch from a log and a tree stump, a pelican snaps up its supper, and a snazzy penguin shows off a tuxedo painted in every color.
A Rochard Monet swan glides among water lilies, and a pair of swans wears Sevres style roses. Closer to home, a rooster and hen stand as a pair, ducks paddle in a row, and chickens circle a watering can. A floral birdhouse comes with a lift off cardinal, a winter birdhouse holds a clutch of eggs, and Mother Goose arrives in her green hat. A blue stork announcing It's a Boy suits new parents. Give one to the birdwatcher who keeps a field guide by the kitchen window, and set it right on that sill.
