Doves Carrying a Letter Porcelain Limoges Box

Doves arrive with a letter in their care, like messengers stepping out of an old romance novel. The porcelain was formed and painted by hand in Limoges, France.

Sealed With a Coo

Long before email, birds carried messages across great distances, and doves in particular came to stand for love, peace and faithful promises. Put a letter with them and you have the oldest image of a sweetheart's note on its way.

Wedding Day Messengers

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• A graceful choice for a wedding, engagement or anniversary
• Fits a bird, love or letter writing collection

For Pen Pals and Sweethearts

It suits a couple who courted by letter, a bride tucking away a copy of her vows, a pen pal of many years, or a friend who still writes thank-you notes by hand. Display it on a writing desk beside stationery and a fountain pen, or on a dresser with wedding photographs.

Small porcelain boxes first won favor in 18th-century France as cases for snuff, pills and beauty patches, and a love token like this keeps that intimate spirit alive.
