Hobbies and Pastimes Limoges Boxes
Hobbies and pastimes Limoges boxes honor the things people do with their hands once the workday ends. A classic black 35mm camera, a movie director's film camera, a red sewing machine and a toolbox with pliers sit side by side here. Photographers and film buffs can choose a yellow 35mm, a Rochard camera with film and a print, or a cameraman cranking out the next feature. The tinkerer gets a brown tool chest, a blue workbench and a construction hard hat with tools, which make a fine nod to the man who fixes everything in the garage.
The sewing room is well supplied too. There are balls of yarn with knitting needles, a knitting basket, sewing notions, a thimble holder, a cobalt thimble trimmed in gold and a scissors case. Puzzle solvers can pick a Rochard Sudoku or crossword box, painters have a still life palette and a watercolor set, and stamp hobbyists get a butterfly postage stamp holder. Each is porcelain from Limoges, France, painted by hand and closed with a hinged lid. Keep one beside the hobby itself, on the sewing table or the darkroom shelf, so it earns its spot.
