Rochard Squirrel and Acorn Limoges Box
A squirrel clutches its prize acorn in this woodland Limoges box, ready to bury it somewhere it will never find again. Rochard made the piece in porcelain and had it painted by hand in Limoges, France.
The Busy Gatherer
Every fall, squirrels race across lawns and up oak trees, burying acorns for the winter ahead. They are endlessly entertaining to watch, especially for anyone with a bird feeder they have tried to protect. This piece captures that busy season in a small, friendly form that brings the backyard indoors.
Acorns and Oak Leaves
Set it on a windowsill that looks out over the yard, on a cabin mantel, or on a sideboard surrounded by fall leaves and small gourds. It carries easily from late summer through Thanksgiving, then works year round in a woodland themed room. Nature watchers, gardeners and anyone who has lost a feeder full of seed to a clever squirrel will appreciate the joke.
