Rochard Christmas Owls Limoges Box with Snow Mouse
Two owls settle in for a snowy Christmas night, and a small snow mouse has joined them for company. Rochard made this Limoges box in porcelain, painted by hand in Limoges, France, with a quiet winter woods feel.
Who Goes There in the Snow
Owls are the night watchmen of the forest, and in winter they seem to own the hush that follows a fresh snowfall. Pairing two of them with a tiny snow mouse gives this scene an unlikely, friendly charm, since in the wild the mouse would be keeping well away. It feels like the opening page of a winter fable.

A Season That Lasts Past New Year
Because there is no Santa in sight, this piece can stay out well beyond the holidays. Start it on a mantel with pine cones in December and let it carry through the snowy weeks of January and February. It looks at home in a cabin, on a library shelf or in a curio cabinet beside other birds. Owl collectors often add it as their seasonal favorite, and it makes a gentle present for a birdwatcher or anyone who loves a quiet snowy evening.
