Nativity Shepherd Limoges Box by Rochard

A shepherd from the Christmas story, one of the first to hear the news on that night in Bethlehem, is the subject of this porcelain box. Rochard modeled and hand-painted it in Limoges, France, as part of its Nativity work.

Keeping Watch by Night

The Gospel of Luke tells how shepherds tending their flocks were the first visitors to the manger. Rochard gives this humble figure his own small piece, painted by hand so that each shepherd carries slight differences in color and detail.

Gathering at the Manger

Set him beside the Holy Family, the angel and the animals when the creche comes out each Advent, or let him stand alone on a mantel during the twelve days of Christmas. He makes a meaningful present for a pastor, a Sunday school teacher, or a family that adds one Nativity figure to their set every year. He also suits a godparent marking a baptism near the holidays, or a parish volunteer who helps arrange the church creche each December.
