La Gloriette Fishing Polar Bear Angler Limoges Box

Line in the water and patience in his pose, a polar bear angler waits for a bite on this cheerful porcelain piece. It was hand-painted as a Limoges box in Limoges, France, and is part of the La Gloriette polar bear series.

Gone Fishing, Arctic Edition

Polar bears are expert fishermen in real life, so this one has the credentials. The porcelain version swaps the ice hole for a fishing scene any weekend angler would recognize, and the result is a friendly piece with a quiet sense of humor.

The Tackle Box Crowd

• A La Gloriette piece, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Fits a fishing, lake house or polar bear grouping
• Joins the cowboy and baseball polar bears from the same series

Lake House Mantel

Set it on the mantel at a lake cottage, on a shelf beside a framed photo of the big catch, or in an office next to a calendar marked with fishing trips. It also looks right in a den with a mounted lure collection or a stack of fly-tying books.

It is a natural Father's Day present, a retirement send-off for someone who plans to fish every morning, or a thank-you for the friend who always invites you out on the boat. Fly fishers, bass anglers and ice fishermen alike will smile at a bear who shares their favorite pastime.
