Yellow Rose Hourglass Jar Porcelain Limoges Box

A yellow rose blooms on the curved sides of this hourglass shaped jar, a far cry from the usual round or square box. It is hand-painted porcelain made in Limoges, France, and its unusual outline makes it stand out on any shelf.

Sunshine in a Single Bloom

Yellow roses traditionally stand for friendship and joy, which gives this jar a warm, sunny meaning. The rose is painted by hand, so the petals and color differ slightly from one piece to the next.

Shaped Like Passing Time

The pinched waist of an hourglass is a lovely way to frame a flower, drawing the eye up and down the jar. Shapes like this one are less common than flat round boxes, which makes them a welcome change in a row of traditional pieces.

Where the Rose Belongs

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits a yellow rose, garden flower or jar shape collection
• Bright on a vanity, writing desk or sunny bedside table

Give it to a dear friend to mark years of friendship, or to a Texas native who grew up singing about the yellow rose. It also suits a gardener who tends roses each summer and wants a bloom that never fades.
