Shopping Cart Full of Groceries Porcelain Limoges Box

A tiny shopping cart, loaded to the brim with groceries, turns the weekly market run into something worth putting on a shelf. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, modeled and colored by hand in Limoges, France.

Aisle Five, in Porcelain

The fun of this piece is in the pile. The cart itself and the provisions heaped inside it are shaped in porcelain and then painted, so the whole load reads like a market haul frozen in mid-trip. It is an everyday subject treated with the same care a painter would give a formal floral box.

Filling the Pantry Shelf

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits a food, cooking or kitchen themed grouping
• Sits nicely beside fruit basket, bread and wine bottle pieces

For the Family Shopper

Every household has one person who always knows what is missing from the fridge and never forgets the list. This is a small thank-you for that person, or a cheerful housewarming present for someone setting up a first kitchen. It also suits a retired grocer, a farmers market regular, or a friend who treats a trip to the market as an outing.

Displayed on a kitchen windowsill or an open shelf near the cookbooks, it brings a little humor to the room where the real groceries end up.
