Rochard Washing Machine Limoges Box Figurine with Detergent

Laundry day rarely earns a keepsake, yet here it is: a washing machine with its box of detergent close by, rendered in hand-painted porcelain. Rochard made this Limoges box in Limoges, France, with a wink at one of life's never-ending chores.

Spin Cycle Humor

Anyone who has carried a basket of towels down to the basement will smile at this one. The washing machine changed home life in the twentieth century, freeing whole afternoons that used to go to scrubboards and wringers. This little tribute treats that humble appliance with the same care Rochard gives a castle or a cathedral.

• Pairs well with kitchen stove, ironing and sewing boxes

Above the Dryer

Set it on a laundry room shelf, a windowsill above the sink or a mudroom cubby where it adds a little cheer to the weekly routine. It makes a funny housewarming present, a Mother's Day nod to the person who keeps everyone in clean socks, or a send-off for a college student doing their own wash for the first time.
