Rochard Limoges Box of a Baby Lying in a Blue Bed

A baby lies tucked into a little blue bed, with a tiny porcelain pacifier close at hand. This tender nursery scene is a Rochard Limoges box, hand-painted in Limoges, France.

Sweet Dreams in Blue

The bed itself forms the box, and the baby lies snug inside it. The separate porcelain pacifier is the sweet finishing detail, the kind of small extra Rochard likes to add to a piece. Every color, from the blue bedding to the soft skin tones, is applied with a brush.

Welcome, Little One

Few occasions call for a lasting memento more than a new baby. Give it at a baby shower, at the hospital, or on the first visit home, and it will be remembered long after the diapers and onesies are outgrown. It is also a natural choice for a christening or a first birthday.

Nursery Shelf Companions

• A Rochard baby design, hand-painted in Limoges, France
• Fits a new baby, christening or family milestone collection
• Pairs with baby carriage, baby bottle and stork boxes

Small porcelain boxes were the height of fashion in 18th-century France, carried in pockets and reticules to hold snuff, pills or beauty patches. Today they are just as often given to mark a birth and set high on a nursery shelf.
