Pram with Baby Hand-Painted Limoges Box

A little baby lies tucked into an old fashioned pram on this square porcelain box, a scene straight out of a Sunday stroll through the park. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, as a traditional baby themed design.

A Stroll Through the Park

The high-wheeled pram became a fixture of family life in the 1800s, and it still says new baby more clearly than almost any other image. On this piece the scene is brushed on by hand, so the baby and the carriage each carry the small marks of the painter.

Welcome Home, Little One

Give it at a baby shower, slip it into a basket for the first visit home from the hospital, or present it to grandparents who want their own reminder of the big day. It sits nicely on a nursery dresser or bookshelf, and later moves easily to a curio cabinet as a keepsake of that first year. The square form keeps it steady wherever it lands.
