Rochard Hippo and Baby Porcelain Limoges Box

A mother hippo and her calf stay side by side in this Rochard Limoges box, a gentle family moment from the rivers of Africa. Rochard had it hand-painted in Limoges, France.

River Mother

Hippos spend their days in rivers and lakes, and a calf rarely strays from its mother's side for its first years. Despite their size, hippos are fiercely protective parents, and that devotion is what makes this pairing so endearing.
