Koala Mother with Baby Rochard Limoges Box
A mother koala holds her little one close, the way these sleepy marsupials cling together in the eucalyptus branches of Australia. Rochard has shaped that embrace as a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France.
Down Under, Up Close
The two koalas are modeled as a single hug, mother and baby joined in one sculpted piece. It is a soft, affectionate subject that is easy to recognize from across a room. Note that koalas are marsupials rather than true bears, though many collectors file them on the bear shelf anyway.
A Hug Worth Giving
This pair makes a natural present for a baby shower, a new mother, or Mother's Day. It also suits a traveler who has been to Australia, or a friend who has a soft spot for animal families. Place it on a dresser, a bedside table, or a shelf with other mother and baby pieces so the theme carries through.
