Easter Basket with Eggs and Bird Limoges Box

A small bird settles among colored eggs in a woven Easter basket, as if guarding the morning's finds. This springtime scene is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France.

Spring Has Sprung

Easter baskets, painted eggs and the first birds of spring all signal the same thing, that the long winter is over. This piece gathers all three, with the weave of the basket, the eggs and the little bird each painted by hand.

Basket of Springtime Ideas

It makes a sweet hostess thank-you for Easter brunch, a spring birthday present, or a treat for a grandmother who still dyes eggs with the family each year. Bird watchers and garden club members also tend to warm to it.

Painted, Then Mounted

Many Limoges boxes are hand-painted once the white porcelain has been fired, with their metal mounts fitted by hand afterward. Set this one on the Easter table, a spring mantel or a windowsill where real birds come to visit.
