Rochard Nantucket Basket Limoges Box with Lighthouse

A Nantucket basket and a lighthouse come together in a scene straight from the New England shore. Rochard made this porcelain Limoges box in Limoges, France, decorating both pieces by hand.

Gray Lady Memories

Nantucket is often called the Gray Lady for the fog that rolls in from the sea. The island is famous for its lightship baskets, first woven by keepers aboard the lightships offshore, and for the lighthouses that guide boats into harbor. This box brings those two island symbols together.

Summers by the Sound

Offer it to a family that returns to the Cape and Islands every summer, a friend who owns a cottage on the coast, or a sailor who knows every buoy in the harbor. It also makes a lovely hostess thank you after a weekend by the sea.

Place it on a coastal cottage bookshelf, a guest room dresser, or a mantel beside driftwood and sea glass. For anyone who has ridden the ferry across the sound, it brings back salt air and long summer evenings.
