Wicker Picnic Basket Porcelain Limoges Box

A wicker picnic basket, the kind packed with sandwiches and a checked blanket for a day in the park, is reimagined in porcelain here. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, and it comes with small removable pieces that complete the picnic theme.

A Basket Packed for Sunshine

Picnics are one of summer's simplest pleasures, from a lakeside lunch to a blanket spread under the trees at an evening concert. This basket captures that easy mood in a form small enough to hold in one hand. The weave and colors are painted by hand, so each basket differs a little from the next.

Baskets Through the Centuries

Small porcelain boxes became fashionable in eighteenth century France for snuff, pills and beauty patches, and over time the shapes grew to include everyday objects like this one. Give it for an engagement, a summer wedding, or an anniversary that began with a first picnic date. It also looks right on a kitchen shelf or a sunny windowsill.
