Rochard Small Picnic Basket Porcelain Limoges Box

A small picnic basket, packed and ready for an afternoon in the park, makes a charming subject for this porcelain box. The design comes from Rochard, and the basket was painted by hand on porcelain in Limoges, France, as a Limoges box.

Lunch on the Lawn

The picnic basket is a symbol of easy summer days, with a checked cloth spread on the grass, sandwiches, fruit and a cold drink. This vintage-style basket brings all of that to mind, and Rochard's cheerful brushwork suits a subject made for sunny afternoons and good company. It calls up memories of family reunions, Fourth of July fireworks and lazy Sundays by the pond.
