Yellow Porcelain Basket of Flowers Limoges Box

A yellow basket brimming with flowers brings a burst of spring to this porcelain piece, like an armful of blooms carried in from the garden. The basket was modeled in Limoges, France, as a Limoges box and finished entirely with a brush.

Gathered at First Light

Flower baskets have been a favorite subject in decorative porcelain since the 18th century, when floral motifs filled French salons. The sunny yellow of the basket gives the blossoms a warm frame, and every petal is painted by hand.

Blooms for Every Occasion

This is a cheerful choice for Mother's Day, a May birthday, or a get-well wish that needs a little color. It also makes a fitting thank-you for a florist, a garden club volunteer or a wedding planner who handled every bouquet. On a breakfast table, a sunny windowsill or a bedroom dresser beside a vase of daffodils, it carries the feeling of spring all year long.

The Garden Shelf

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Pairs with watering can, flowerpot and garden bench pieces
• Fits a spring, floral or yellow kitchen collection

Grouped with other baskets in different colors, it adds the brightest note to the row.
