Birthday Cake with Candle Porcelain Limoges Box
A frosted birthday cake topped with a single candle waits for someone to make a wish. This celebration piece is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France.
Make a Wish
Blowing out the candle is the moment every birthday builds toward, and this little cake captures it before the first breath. The frosting and the lone candle are painted by hand, giving it a fresh, just-decorated look.
Birthday Gift Ideas
One candle makes it a natural pick for a first birthday, but it works just as well for a milestone like 40, 60 or 90 when there is no room on the cake for every candle. It also suits a baker, a party planner or a friend whose birthday always seems to sneak up on everyone.

A Little Box With a Long History
Small porcelain boxes became fashionable in 18th-century France for keeping snuff, pills and beauty patches. Today this one can hold a birthday note or a tiny present, then stay out on a dresser or desk all year.
