Capricorn Sea Goat Artoria Zodiac Limoges Box

Half goat and half fish, the sea goat of Capricorn climbs out of the waves on this Artoria zodiac box. It is hand-painted on porcelain in Limoges, France, and the design is now retired.

The Climber From the Sea

Capricorn covers birthdays from about December 22 to January 19, and its emblem is one of the oldest in astrology. The sea goat stands for ambition and patience, climbing steadily toward its goals. Artoria renders this mythical creature in porcelain, and each one was painted by hand, so colors vary from piece to piece.

An Artoria Zodiac, Retired

• An Artoria design that has been retired
• Fits an astrology, zodiac or birthday sign collection
• One of the more unusual zodiac figures to find in porcelain

Holiday Season Birthdays

People born near Christmas or New Year often feel their birthdays get lost in the holiday rush. A personal zodiac box makes a thoughtful way to give them a present of their own. It also suits a New Year baby, a hard-working colleague celebrating a promotion or a mountain climber.

Set it on a desk, a shelf or a nightstand. In a full zodiac circle, the sea goat sits between Sagittarius and Aquarius, marking the turn of the calendar year.
