Rochard Black Cat Halloween Limoges Box, Pumpkin and Candy Corn

A black cat eyes a Halloween pumpkin, with a scattering of candy corn nearby, in this hand-painted porcelain Limoges box. Rochard made it in Limoges, France, gathering three favorite symbols of October into one small scene.

Nine Lives on Hallows Eve

Black cats have been part of Halloween lore for centuries, linked in old tales with witches and moonlit nights. Candy corn arrived much later, in the 1880s, and quickly became the season's signature treat. Put them together with a pumpkin and the holiday is complete, no costume required.

Spooky and Sweet

• A Rochard Halloween piece, painted by hand in Limoges, France
• Fits a Halloween, autumn or black cat collection
• Pairs well with haunted house, witch hat and trick or treat boxes

Prowling the Autumn Mantel

Bring it out on the first of October and give it a place on a mantel, an entry table beside the candy bowl or a windowsill facing the street. It makes a fun hostess present for a Halloween party, a birthday surprise for anyone born in October, and a natural pick for a black cat owner who loves the season. Cat fans will enjoy it long after the pumpkins are gone.
