Rochard Nativity Camel Porcelain Limoges Box

The camel that carried the Wise Men across the desert to Bethlehem stands ready for the journey on this Rochard figurine box. It is hand-painted porcelain made in Limoges, France, from the maker's Nativity grouping.

Following the Star

In the Christmas story the Magi traveled from the East bearing gold, frankincense and myrrh, and camels are the animals most often shown carrying them. This one brings that long desert crossing to the manger scene, a quiet and patient figure among the shepherds and angels.

Around the Manger

Set it near the Wise Men in a creche, on an Advent table beside the candles, or on a mantel where the Nativity grows a little each week of December. It makes a meaningful present for a church volunteer, a godparent, or a family that adds one Nativity figure every Christmas. Collectors of desert and safari pieces will find a place for it too.
