Christmas Tree Porcelain Limoges Box with a Doll Inside

A decorated Christmas tree hides a small surprise in this porcelain box: open it and a tiny doll waits inside. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, with the magic of a gift tucked under the branches.

A Secret in the Branches

Surprise pieces are a favorite among Limoges collectors, since the inside matters as much as the outside. Here the festive tree shape is the first pleasure for the eye, and the little doll is the second, revealed only when the box is opened. It recalls the joy of finding a doll under the tree on Christmas morning.
