Country House on Round Base Limoges Box

A country house with a pastoral feel sits on a round porcelain base, making this Limoges box look like a cottage scene in the round. Every detail was painted by hand on porcelain in Limoges, France.

Down a Country Lane

Something about a small house in the countryside suggests slower days, a kettle on the stove and a garden out back. This piece captures that mood in miniature, and the round base gives the house its own little plot of land.

Home Is Where the Shelf Is

A house shape makes one of the most natural housewarming presents there is. It also suits a closing day on a first home, a move to the country after years in the city, or a retirement to a long dreamed of cottage. Realtors sometimes give house pieces to clients as a thank you after a sale.

Building a Porcelain Village

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits a house, village or countryside collection
• Pairs with churches, barns, bakeries and other building shapes

Collectors often line up their house pieces along a mantel or a deep window ledge to form a little village street. This round based cottage works well at the end of such a row, or on its own on an entry table where it welcomes guests home.
