Red Roof White Cottage House Limoges Box

A tidy white cottage capped with a bright red roof sits at the heart of this porcelain piece, as welcoming as a lit window on a country lane, all hand-painted on a porcelain Limoges box from Limoges, France.

Home Sweet Hamlet

House subjects are among the most personal Limoges boxes, because almost everyone pictures a place of their own when they see one. The crisp contrast of white walls and a red roof keeps this one simple and cheerful. Painted by hand, it has the slight unevenness of real brushwork that collectors look for.

Keys to a New Chapter

A house box is a classic way to mark a move, so this one makes a warm housewarming present, a closing day thank you from a realtor, or a reminder of a childhood home for someone who has moved away. Display it on an entry table near the key bowl, on a mantel beside a family photo, or in a curio cabinet with other buildings. Add a few tiny trees or seasonal figures around it and the cottage becomes the center of its own little street.
