Rochard Black Labrador with Ball Limoges Box

A black Labrador waits with its ball, ready for one more throw in the backyard. This loyal retriever is a Rochard Limoges box, hand-painted on porcelain in Limoges, France.

Fetch, Repeat, Fetch Again

Anyone who has lived with a Lab knows the ball is never far away. The dog and its ball together make up the box, with the shiny black coat painted by hand so each one comes out with its own little character.

Best Friend on the Bookshelf

Set it on a home office shelf, a mudroom ledge or a bedside table. It is a heartfelt birthday present for a Lab owner, a thank you for a dog walker or trainer, and a tender way to remember a faithful black Lab who has passed on.

The Retriever Row

• A Rochard dog design, painted by hand in Limoges, France
• A favorite for retriever and sporting breed collections
• Lines up nicely with yellow Lab, golden retriever and dog bowl boxes

Porcelain has been made in Limoges since the late 1700s, after fine white kaolin clay turned up near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche. Dog subjects like this one are a much newer tradition, and they have become one of the most loved themes among collectors today.
