Numbered Scottish Terrier Dog Limoges Box
Square-jawed, bearded and standing his ground, the Scottie on this piece has all the stubborn charm of the breed. He is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, and numbered as part of a limited edition of 750.
A Terrier With Opinions
Scottish Terriers were bred to dig after badgers and foxes in the Highlands, and they have never quite forgotten it. Owners describe them as dignified, independent and a little aloof with strangers. The porcelain version keeps that upright, no-nonsense stance, with the beard and ears that make a Scottie recognizable from across a room.
Highland Company on the Shelf
- Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France, numbered within an edition of 750
- Belongs with terrier, Scottish breed or tartan-themed groupings
- Looks right beside Westie, Cairn or Airedale pieces in a dog breed cabinet
For the Scottie Household
Breed people are loyal to their dogs, and a porcelain Scottie tends to land with the owner who already has the leash hooks, the doormat and the holiday sweater. It suits a desk at the office, a bookshelf beside a framed photo, or a curio cabinet that already holds a few dogs. Give it on a birthday, at the arrival of a new puppy, or in memory of a much-missed companion.
The numbered edition gives it a clear place in a breed collection, a small detail that serious dog collectors tend to note.
