Troll Elf with Frogs on Lily Pad Porcelain Limoges Box

$389.00 $0.00

A mischievous troll elf, part leprechaun in spirit, has claimed a lily pad and shares it with two frogs. This hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France, feels like a scene lifted from an old storybook.

A Folk Tale on the Pond

Elves, trolls and leprechauns turn up in the folklore of Ireland, Scandinavia and beyond, usually up to some harmless mischief. Here the little fellow seems perfectly at home with his frog companions. All three figures and their lily pad are painted by hand, so the greens and expressions vary from box to box.

Friends of the Lily Pad

  • Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
  • Fits a frog, fairy tale or pond critter collection
  • Pairs with ladybug, snail and other lily pad pieces

A Wee Bit of Luck

With its leprechaun air, it makes a fun present around Saint Patrick's Day, especially for someone with Irish roots. It also suits a frog collector, a fantasy book reader or a gardener who believes the garden has hidden residents. Set it on a garden room windowsill, a bookshelf among fairy tale volumes or a curio cabinet full of critters, where it will draw a smile from every visitor.
