Dark Brown Hen with Chicks and Bow Limoges Box

A dark brown mother hen gathers her little chicks close in this warm family scene, finished with a bow. Each feather and chick was painted by hand on this porcelain Limoges box, made in Limoges, France.

Mother Hen and Her Brood

The hen sheltering her chicks is one of the oldest images of family care, which is why this piece so often marks a new arrival or honors a devoted mother. The bow adds a festive finishing note.

Ruling the Roost

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits a chicken, farm or country kitchen collection
• Pairs with rooster, egg basket and barn pieces

Nesting in the Kitchen

Set it on a kitchen shelf, a breakfast nook windowsill or a farmhouse hutch. It is a thoughtful baby shower keepsake for the new mother, a Mother's Day present, or a thank-you to the grandmother who keeps the whole family together.

Hand Work From Start to Finish

Limoges boxes are painted by hand after the white porcelain is fired, and their metal fittings are set by hand too, so every hen comes out a little different.
