Rochard Polo Player on Horseback Limoges Box

A polo player rides into the match on horseback, bringing the speed of the sport of kings to a small porcelain piece. Rochard captured the scene as a Limoges box, painted by hand in Limoges, France.

The Sport of Kings

Polo is one of the oldest team sports, first played in ancient Persia and later carried around the world by cavalry officers. Today it fills fields from Palm Beach to Argentina to the English countryside, where spectators still stomp the divots at halftime.

Clubhouse Trophy

This makes a handsome present for a polo player, a club member, a horse trainer, or a friend who spends summer Sundays at the matches. It also suits an equestrian themed office, a tack room shelf, or a den with sporting art on the walls. Give it to celebrate a winning season, a retirement from the field, or a milestone birthday for someone who has always loved horses. Riders of every discipline will appreciate the spirit of the subject.
