Blue Chest with Flowers Porcelain Limoges Box

Painted blue and scattered with flowers, this porcelain box takes the form of a small chest, like a piece of cottage furniture shrunk to fit in a hand. Every flower on it was painted by hand in Limoges, France.

Grandmother's Hope Chest

A chest has a sense of history to it, the kind of piece that once held linens, letters and family treasures. This porcelain version borrows that feeling and adds a fresh floral design on a blue ground. The chest shape makes a nice change from round and square florals on the same shelf.

Cottage Blue Companions

• Looks right beside armoire, trunk and dresser shaped boxes

A Small Chest for Big Moments

Because chests are linked with hope chests and trousseaus, this one suits an engagement, a wedding shower or an anniversary. It also makes a warm birthday present for someone who loves blue. Display it on top of a real dresser for a playful echo, or inside a glass fronted cabinet among other painted pieces.

Miniature furniture collectors often find that a chest like this ties the whole grouping together.
