Square Limoges Box with a Painted Flower Vase

A vase brimming with flowers is painted on this square porcelain box, much like a tiny still life hung in a country kitchen. It is a Limoges box decorated by hand in Limoges, France, with a classic, painterly subject.

Still Life in Porcelain

Flowers in a vase have been a favorite subject of painters from the Dutch masters to the Impressionists. Here the theme comes to life on a small porcelain lid, with the square shape acting as a frame. The result feels like a miniature painting you can pick up and admire.

The Art Lover's Shelf

This box sits comfortably among other floral pieces, but it also suits a collection with an art theme, beside palettes, easels or framed miniatures. A pair of still life pieces on either side of a mantel clock makes a charming arrangement.

• Hand-painted on porcelain from Limoges, France
• Fits a floral, still life or art-themed collection
• Shows well on a desk, mantel or china cabinet shelf

A Bouquet That Lasts

Give it in place of cut flowers for Mother's Day, a birthday, a hospital visit or a thank-you after a dinner party. It suits a florist, a painter, a garden club friend, or anyone who keeps fresh flowers on the kitchen table. Unlike a real bouquet, this one stays in bloom year after year.
