Gold and Blue Floral Rectangular Limoges Box

Gold and blue frame a spray of painted flowers across the lid of this flat, rectangular porcelain box. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, low and neat enough to rest on a tray or a stack of books.

Blossoms in Blue and Gold

Blue and gold has been a favorite pairing in French decoration for a very long time, and here it gives the flowers a formal setting. The flat shape works almost like a small painted panel.

Fit for a Writing Desk

A rectangle lies flat and steady, so this box is happy on a writing desk, a bedside table or a dresser top. Its slim profile also lets it slip into a curio shelf where taller pieces will not fit.

A Bouquet Worth Giving

• Porcelain from Limoges, France, painted by hand
• Suits a floral, blue and gold or rectangular box collection
• A graceful pick for a birthday, Mother's Day or a garden party thank-you

Grouped with other low boxes in matching colors, it helps a collection read as one finished arrangement rather than a scatter of separate pieces.
