Hexagonal Blue Criss Cross Pattern Limoges Box with Pink Flowers
Six neat sides give this porcelain box its hexagonal shape, and a blue criss cross pattern with pink flowers covers it like a garden trellis in bloom. Its painting was done by hand in Limoges, France, the city that gives these porcelain boxes their name.
A Trellis in Bloom
The crossing blue lines bring to mind garden lattice, while the pink flowers seem to climb right through them. The hexagon shape adds a geometric twist that sets it apart from round and square boxes.
Six Sides of Charm
- Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
- Suits a shaped box, blue floral or pink flower collection
- Pairs with blue and green criss cross purses
Settled on the Dresser
A bedroom dresser, a vanity tray or a sunroom shelf all suit it well. It makes a pleasant Mother's Day present, a spring birthday surprise or a thank-you for a bridal shower hostess.
Collectors who enjoy unusual shapes will find the hexagon a welcome addition to a shelf of ovals and circles, and the familiar criss cross pattern ties it neatly to other pieces in the same style.
