Rectangular Purple Flowers Limoges Pill Box

Purple blooms are painted across the lid of this rectangular porcelain pill box, a clean shape that lets the flowers shine. It is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France, in the traditional style that never seems to go out of fashion.

A Bouquet in Violet

Purple flowers bring to mind lavender fields, lilacs by the porch and violets in spring. The single color theme gives this box a calm, coordinated look that groups easily with other traditional pieces. Its rectangular form adds a tailored line among the rounds and ovals of a typical collection.

Rectangles Among the Rounds

Small porcelain boxes rose to fashion in 18th century France, where they held snuff, pills and beauty patches, and rectangular forms like this one carry on that heritage. Set it on a nightstand, a desk or a dressing table, and give it to anyone whose favorite color is purple or whose garden overflows with lilacs each May.
