Yellow Floral Footstool Rectangular Limoges Box

Shaped like a small rectangular footstool and covered in yellow flowers, this traditional Limoges box brings a sunny note to the parlor. Its flowers were painted by hand on porcelain in Limoges, France.

Put Your Feet Up

The footstool belongs to the comfortable corners of a home, beside a favorite armchair or at the foot of a reading lamp. Painting it with yellow blossoms gives the shape a cheerful, cottage feel, like fresh upholstery on a spring morning.

A Traditional Shape With Roots

Limoges porcelain is hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat, which lets painters work fine floral detail onto its smooth white surface. Traditional forms like this rectangle remain popular because they show off that brushwork so clearly.
