Purple Heart Limoges Box with Yellow Flowers

Yellow flowers bloom across a purple heart, a bold color pairing that looks like spring violets meeting buttercups. This heart is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box made in Limoges, France.

Violet Meets Sunshine

Purple and yellow sit opposite each other on the color wheel, which is exactly why they look so lively together. Here the purple ground sets off the yellow blooms, so the flowers seem to glow against the darker heart. It is a cheerful twist on the traditional floral heart box.

Garden of Hearts

• Hand-painted porcelain made in Limoges, France
• Fits a heart, floral or purple themed collection
• Pairs with pansy, iris and lilac pieces

A Bouquet for the Nightstand

Try it on a nightstand, a dressing table, or a windowsill where morning light brightens the yellow. It is a thoughtful Mother's Day pick, a birthday surprise for someone whose favorite color is purple, or a get-well wish that lasts longer than cut flowers. Purple is also a traditional color of remembrance, so some give it in honor of a loved one.

Painted After the Firing

Many Limoges boxes are decorated by hand only after the white porcelain has been fired, and their metal mounts are fitted by hand as well.
