Blue Round Limoges Box with Flowers at the Base

Flowers bloom around the base of this blue round porcelain box, like a garden border growing at the foot of a wall. Painted by hand in Limoges, France, it pairs a calm blue body with a ring of blossoms below.

Blossoms at Ground Level

Placing the flowers at the bottom rather than on the lid gives this box an unusual and pleasing balance. The blue rises above them like an open sky. It feels fresh and a little different from the many floral boxes that crown their lids with blooms.

A Blue Garden Bed

• Hand-painted porcelain from Limoges, France
• Belongs with blue, floral and round box collections
• Pairs nicely with blue chests and footed blue eggs

Calm Corners and Kind Thanks

Set it on a nightstand, a guest bath shelf or a sunny window ledge where the blue can catch the light. It makes a quiet present for a new grandmother, a retiring nurse, a birthday for someone who loves blue, or a thank you for a neighbor who tends a beautiful garden.

A Craft Shaped by Kaolin

Limoges has made porcelain since the late 1700s, after kaolin was found near Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in 1768, and its boxes are still finished by hand.
