Rochard Cat Atop a Blue Floral Oval Box, Limoges

A cat sits on top of an oval box painted with blue flowers in this Rochard Limoges piece, looking perfectly at home. It is hand-painted in Limoges, France, and it pairs feline charm with a soft floral design.

Queen of the Garden Box

Cats always find the best seat in the house, whether it is a sunny windowsill or the top of a freshly arranged vase of flowers. Here the cat has claimed an oval box covered in blue blossoms. Rochard paints each one by hand, so the cat and the flowers vary slightly from piece to piece.

For Every Cat Person

This makes a lovely present for a friend who has always had a cat, a veterinarian, a pet sitter, or someone remembering a beloved companion. It also suits a gardener who loves blue hydrangeas and cornflowers, or a collector who already has a shelf of cat figurines. Set it on a bedside table, a vanity or a sunny windowsill where a real cat might join it.

Born of Limousin Clay

Hard-paste porcelain like that of Limoges is fired at very high heat, which makes it strong and gives the flowers on this oval a bright white ground. The craft took hold in the region in the late 1700s.
