Round Blue Floral Pill Box in Limoges Porcelain

Blue flowers are painted across the lid of this round pill box, giving a cool, classic look to one of the simplest shapes in porcelain. It is a hand-painted Limoges box made in Limoges, France, in a traditional form collectors have prized for generations.

True Blue Blossoms

The round shape leaves the painter a clean circle to fill, and the blue floral design uses that space well. Blue has always been a favorite color on porcelain, and here it gives the box a calm, fresh character that suits nearly any room.

The Round Box Tradition

Many Limoges collections start with a plain round pill box, because it is the purest form of the craft: hard-paste porcelain, fired at very high heat, then decorated by hand. A floral round like this one shows off the painting without any novelty shape to distract from it.
