Reading Turtle Hand-Painted Limoges Box

Unhurried and absorbed in a good read, this turtle has found the perfect way to spend an afternoon. The figure is a hand-painted porcelain Limoges box, crafted in Limoges, France, and the design is retired.

Slow and Steady Reader

Turtles have a reputation for patience, and nothing rewards patience like a good book. The pairing is gently funny and a little wise, a reminder that some of the best things in life are best taken slowly.

Bookworm's Bulletin

• A retired design from the Limoges turtle line
• Suits a turtle, book or library themed collection
• Pairs with school teddy, owl and reading glasses pieces

A Spot in the Library

Set it on a bookshelf between favorite novels, on a bedside table, or on a desk in a quiet study. It is a perfect match for a book club host, a librarian, a retiring teacher, or anyone who loves to linger over a story.

Painted by Hand, Fitted by Hand

Many Limoges boxes are hand-painted after the white porcelain is fired, and their metal mounts are fitted by hand as well. That patient process suits a subject like this turtle.
