Rochard Fishing Frog Porcelain Limoges Box

A frog has settled in for a day of fishing in this playful Rochard piece, hoping for a good catch. The whole scene is painted by hand on a porcelain Limoges box from Limoges, France.

Gone Fishing at the Lily Pond

There is a gentle humor in a frog taking up the angler's life, since its home pond is already full of things worth catching. The scene feels like a lazy summer afternoon, with nothing to do but wait for a nibble on the line.

The Rochard Sense of Fun

Rochard boxes are known for personality and wit, and this fishing frog shows both. It is the kind of piece that draws a smile and a second look from anyone who passes the shelf.
